The town of Harpers Ferry, WV signed an agreement with FirstEnergy Corp. subsidiaries Mon Power and Potomac Edison to purchase solar energy from their proposed solar facility to power 100 percent of the town’s streetlight and town hall energy requirements.
Hedgesville Public Library Branch Manager Dana Phelps discusses the library’s efforts to install solar panels and energy efficient lighting, including teaming up with the local Vo-tech center to upgrade the lighting, and collaborating with the solar installer and local electric utility company during the process, ultimately saving money and reducing carbon emissions.
The WV Public Service Commission has granted a solar siting certificate to Bedington Energy Facility, LLC, for a 100-megawatt utility-scale solar energy facility to be developed on the former DuPont Potomac River Works plant along the Potomac River.
Berkeley County Board of Education, in Martinsburg, WV, partnered with the consulting engineering firm CMTA to renovate 35 buildings in the district, including seven schools that received new geothermal HVAC systems.
