Submit Your Stories to People’s Climate Solutions!

People’s Climate Solutions wants to hear from you! This newly minted website collects and shares stories and podcasts featuring West Virginians across the state who are taking steps to address climate change.

Developed by community educators Sandra Fallon from Morgantown, WV and Frances Riemer from Sedona, Arizona, People’s Climate Solutions is funded by The Appalachian Stewardship Foundation.

Fallon says the nonprofit website wants to hear from everyone in the state who is working to curtail the climate crisis.

“If you are making your business, organization or community more energy efficient or you’re going solar or finding new ways to farm sustainably or travel with less carbon output, please submit your stories to our website.”

Submitting climate success stories to People’s Climate Solutions is easy, according to Fallon. Video clips, photos or story outlines can be uploaded to the website, peoplesclimatesolutions.org.  Submissions will be reviewed by producers and potentially incorporated into print stories or podcasts to be posted on the site.

The vast majority of climate scientists agree all kinds of climate solutions are needed to slow the production of greenhouse gases that trap sunlight and heat the Earth, making major weather events more powerful and erratic. West Virginia has become especially vulnerable to drought, soil erosion, and flooding because of rising temperatures and its hilly terrain.

More climate work is going on in West Virginia than many people might imagine. People’s Climate Solutions is already shaping a schedule of upcoming stories. Hear conversations with church members who harness solar energy to power their church and meet “Green Teams” that help some West Virginia towns become more sustainable and save money. And science teachers who incorporate innovative curricula to engage their students about climate science and solutions.

“Highlighting and sharing these stories” says People’s Climate Solutions co-founder Frances Riemer, “helps people imagine change.”

Help change the trajectory of the climate crisis. Join your fellow West Virginians and send your climate success stories to People’s Climate Solutions.
