Since 1989, the West Virginia Environmental Council (WVEC) has promoted environmental protection and policies for a sustainable future in West Virginia by organizing concerned citizens and fostering collaboration among environmental organizations. Through education, advocacy, and legislative outreach, WVEC works toward influencing policy decisions to preserve and protect West Virginia’s air, land and water. WVEC represents the interests of its 15-member organizations (and their members) at the West Virginia Legislature and publishes Legislative Updates and Action Alerts to keep members across the state informed about key legislative developments during throughout the year. WVEC also hosts an annual day of citizen advocacy, Environmental-Day (E-Day) at the State Capitol, during the legislative session and encourages all non-profit and community organizations working to protect their communities and their environment to participate!
