The Rippon Solar Project is one of five solar farms/industrial solar projects in development or slated for Jefferson County, WV. The Rippon Solar project is an 878-acre project consisting of 215,000 solar panels and expected to generate 99 MW of energy. The developer is Rippon Energy, a subsidiary of Torch Clean Energy LLC, headquartered in Colorado. The facility will not provide energy to the public but will interconnect with a transmission line owned by First Energy. The project is to be constructed on agricultural land and cost approximately $125.4 million. Several Jefferson County residents took legal actions against the county government related to decisions about the facility.
The five solar farms in or slated for Jefferson County, W.Va., are:

- Wild Hill Solar Energy Facility (841.74 Acres)
- Rippon Energy Facility (878 Acres)
- Flowing Springs Farm Solar Energy Facility (660 Acres)
- Franklintown Farm Solar Project (502 Acres).
