Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Action (MOVCA) is an all-volunteer local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to “Inspire and mobilize the people of the Mid-Ohio Valley to immediately address the climate crisis through education, activism, and coalition-building.” Since 2015, MOVCA has collaborated with national and international groups alarmed about climate change, as well as Mid-Ohio Valley groups taking action on environmental and climate issues. “MOVCA focuses on raising awareness of the science supporting the urgency of dealing with global climate change by presenting educational programs and participating in local campaigns.” MOVCA sponsors the Youth Climate Ambassadors Program, which is open to Grade 9-12 students in the Mid-Ohio Valley region and provides an opportunity to learn about environmental concerns and help improve their own communities by developing/implementing a local project or goal. It also sponsors a Public Service Announcement contest addressing climate and environmental concerns in the Mid-Ohio Valley. MOVCA is affiliated with 350.org.
